Rebecca Gray

Experienced criminal defense attorney with more than a decade of prosecution and defense experience.

Rebecca Gray is a founding attorney of Vaughn Gray Trial Attorneys and a seasoned criminal defense lawyer with more than a decade of experience in both prosecution and defense. Her practice reflects a deep commitment to strategic advocacy, thorough preparation, and client-focused representation in high-stakes criminal matters.

Rebecca earned her Juris Doctor from The George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C., where she served as Associate Editor of the Public Contract Law Journal and competed in the Government Contracts Moot Court Competition. Her legal education in the nation’s capital helped shape the disciplined, analytical approach she brings to every case.

Professional Background

Rebecca began her legal career as a prosecutor in the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, one of the largest prosecutorial offices in the country. During her time there, she served in multiple leadership roles, including Assistant Chief of DUI/Traffic, where she oversaw the prosecution of misdemeanor DUI cases across Miami-Dade County. She also trained incoming prosecutors, handled high-profile matters, and worked with outside agencies on policy and public outreach initiatives.

After relocating to Indiana, Rebecca shifted her focus to criminal defense and public defense work, serving as both a trial attorney and appellate attorney for multiple public defender offices. She has represented clients across the spectrum of criminal charges, from serious felony allegations to lower-level offenses, and has handled complex investigations, trial preparation, and appellate advocacy, including arguments before the Indiana Court of Appeals.

Her Approach

Rebecca’s background as both a prosecutor and defense attorney gives her a valuable perspective on how criminal cases are built, evaluated, and challenged. She uses that experience to help clients understand the case against them, identify legal and evidentiary weaknesses, and move forward with a defense strategy grounded in preparation, precision, and strong advocacy.

Her approach is defined by empathy, clarity, and relentless preparation. Whether advocating in negotiations, trial proceedings, or appellate matters, Rebecca is committed to helping clients protect their rights, their record, and their future.
